The City of South Bend suffers from a poverty rate of over 21%, almost double the national average. Another 10.5% have income below 50% of the poverty level. Further, the rate of poverty experienced by the local African American community is close to 40%. This presentation will explore entrepreneurship as a pathway out of poverty. Notre Dame's South Bend Entrepreneurship and Adversity Program will be introduced.
